One of the founding principles leading to the establishment of the town of Allensworth is education. Allensworth became a school district February 8, 1912, so this year marks the 100 year anniversary of a school district established by African Americans in California.
This special Annual Rededication is presented to renew the commitment of the citizens of California to help the Department of Parks and Recreation preserve the history of the ethnically diverse contributions made in the development of the state of California and our nation. The children get to have an enjoyable history education day with square dancing, tour of the historic buildings, including the two room school house, and games with prizes for the winners. Adults also get free tours and great entertainment in a fabulous outdoor event. There are also arts and crafts and food vendors for all to enjoy.
