Baltimore, MD (BlackNews.com) -- In February of this year, during The Baltimore City Health Departments (BCHD) all staff meeting, it was announced that the leadership would be taking a more proactive approach in addressing the needs of its employees as it relates to health risk factors and overall general fitness. In order to address these issues, BCHD brought in Donavan Cox, president and CEO of DDC Total Health and Wellness LLC, to assist with the development and implementation of their program.
On September 25, 2012 during the launch of Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's annual Healthy City Days Campaign, The Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot announced the winners of BCHD's first official health and wellness initiative "The Biggest Winner". The winning participant lost an amazing 28lbs and with 10% of the workforce participating (approximately 90 employees) collectively lost an astounding 298lbs in only 2 months.
This is the first of several planned initiatives over the next several months as well as a testimony to the success formed between The Baltimore City Health Department and DDC Total Health and Wellness LLC.
