Thursday 06-12-2008 10:12am CT

AKON and a musician named PETER BUFFETT . . . (--who is the son of billionaire WARREN BUFFETT) . . . are working together on a new, CHARITABLE social networking site.  It's called IsThereSomethingICanDo.com.

--According to a press release, the point of the site is to offer, quote, "practical ways to get involved in affecting positive change . . . [and allow users to] learn and share informational about their experiences with giving back."

--The site has just launched . . . so, for now, there isn't a whole lot up.  But if you want to check it out, you'll be able to see a music video for a song called "Anything", which Akon and Peter Buffett collaborated on.

(--Here's the link . . .)

LIL WAYNE SOLD OVER 400,000 COPIES OF HIS NEW ALBUM . . . IN ONE DAY:

After several premature leaks . . . and several subsequent delays . . . LIL WAYNE finally released "Tha Carter 3" on Tuesday.  And it was HUGE.  So big, in fact, that it almost went Gold after just one day in stores.

--Wayne moved 423,000 copies of "Tha Carter 3" on Tuesday, which puts it on pace to sell around 900,000 copies by the end of the week.  That'd be the best debut sales week since KANYE WEST sold 957,000 copies of "Graduation" last September.

(--If you're curious, Lil Wayne's last two albums, "Tha Carter" and "Tha Carter 2", have sold 1.1 million and 1.4 million copies, respectively.)

IS SNOOP DOGG WORKING ON A *BLUEGRASS* ALBUM???

It's hard to tell just how serious he is . . . but SNOOP DOGG is saying he's going COUNTRY.  He says, quote, "I went to the 'CMT Music Awards' and I got into the spirit of wanting to do something different.

--"I've been smoking so much green grass I wanted to do a bluegrass album."
